Adaptation to exercise in angina pectoris.
PATIENTS with angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease may have great variability in exercise tolerance. In some this variability fits a pattern wherein increased exercise tolerance is dependent on a preceding episode of exercise-induced angina pectoris. The most complete expression of this phenomenon may be in the patient who is able to overcome an attack of angina pectoris by persisting...
متن کاملNonconventional therapeutic modalities in refractory angina pectoris
Abstract Despite sophisticated conventional medical treatment and the continued development and improvement of coronary revascularization modalities in recent years, a significant number of patients still suffer from refractory angina pectoris and cannot be successfully managed. Advances in therapeutic options have led to an increase in the average of life expectancy even in such ...
متن کاملC-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS
C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.
متن کاملAngina pectoris during inhalation of cold air. Reactions to exercise.
Twelve male patients, with effort angina and a history of cold intolerance, performed brief submaximal exercise bicycle tests with separation of inspiratory and room air. In one test, the patients exercised in a normal room (20°C), breathing either normal or very cold air (-35°C). In another test, environmental air \vas either normal or -10°C, and four combinations of inspiratory and room air w...
متن کاملDiurnal variation in exercise responses in angina pectoris.
Thirty caucasian male patients with stable angina were investigated in two groups of nine and one group of 12. Nine normal subjects were also studied. Patients in the first group (on no treatment) underwent symptom-limited exercise electrocardiography at 0800, 1200, and 1600 hours on the same day. Their heart rates and ST segment displacements at 1600 hours were significantly greater than at 08...
